About Dr. Howard Liu

Current

Dr. Liu is a Board-certified Dermatologist with Cedars-Sinai Medical Group, where he maintains a comprehensive medical and procedural Dermatology practice focusing on care for the entire family. He enjoys seeing pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Dr. Liu has special interests in pediatric dermatology, complex surgical facial reconstruction for skin cancers, and aesthetic dermatology.

Dr. Liu serves as Clinical Chief of the Division of Dermatology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He also holds an academic faculty appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Dermatology at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Dr. Liu is Director of the Aesthetic Dermatology Program of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Group, offering a wide range of aesthetic services for rejuvenation of the body and face. Dr. Liu instructs other physicians in techniques of rejuvenation as a faculty member for Allergan's Facial Aesthetics Training Program (Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, Kybella), Galderma's Aesthetic Injector Network (Dysport, Restylane, Refyne), and Sinclair Pharma (Instalift). He is also a national faculty member of PALETTE, providing training in advanced techniques of facial and body rejuvenation. Dr. Liu's practice is also recognized as a Center of Excellence for Cynosure Lasers and Alma Lasers; he is a member of their faculty programs for teaching techniques in laser and light therapies.

Dr. Liu is also a faculty speaker for Cetaphil skin products educating providers in sensitive skin, eczema, and sun care. 

 

Dr. Liu is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

 

Training

Dr. Liu received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in Molecular Cell Biology with Highest Distinction Honors. He obtained his medical doctorate at the University of California, Davis, where he graduated top of his class. Subsequently, Dr. Liu completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Hospital. He continued at Stanford for his Dermatology residency, where he was selected Chief Resident of the Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Liu has received distinctions and honors in academics, research, and patient care, including selection into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He is also a past recipient of the University of California Regents Scholarship, Chinese American Physicians Scholarship, Arnold Gurevitch Presentation Award in Clinical Dermatology, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Preceptor Scholarship. For the past several years, he has been selected by his peers and patients for the Patients Choice Award and SuperDoctors Distinction.

 

Special Interests

Dr. Liu is committed to on-going education of the general community and his medical colleagues. He is the author of several publications and frequently delivers presentations on his special interests, including emergency dermatology, pediatric dermatology, eczema (ex 1, ex 2), skin cancer management, and aesthetic rejuvenation of the face and body. He has been invited to contribute on national publications and media shows, including NBC News, Details Magazine, and The Doctor's Show.
